• What Curriculum does Candor adopt?

Candor plans to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) for Prep to Grade 5. This curriculum is enquiry-based, student-centred and trans-disciplinary and will transform a child from a passive listener to an active and engaged learner.

Candor plans to offer the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) curriculum for Grade 6 to Grade 10 which culminates in the IGCSE Certificate at the end of Grade 10. This curriculum is accepted worldwide as well as by the Association of Indian Universities.

Candor plans to offer Diploma Programme of the International Baccalaureate (IBDP) for grade 11 and 12. The Diploma Programme is internationally recognised and also recognised by the Association of Indian Universities.

• How different is the Candor curriculum from the traditional school curricula and how does it help the student?

The PYP, IGCSE and DP emphasise meaningful continuous learning and improvement, and concentrate on the process of learning and application of knowledge to real life. They are delivered in a student-centric, and students share the responsibility for their learning and with teachers as facilitators.

Traditional education systems are largely textbook-driven and teacher-directed and the students are, by and large, passive learners. The emphasis is on teaching and testing, on the end product, and on the results rather than learning and the process of learning

The Candor programme is also different in that it integrates Music, Dance, Drama, Arts, Robotics Technology, Sports and Community Service into its timetable because this is the holistic education which will create responsible and competent adults.

• Can students get into an Indian Education System after grade 10 and into an Indian University after grade 12?

Yes, they definitely can. Students who decide to study in India can get admissions into Indian Universities because both the IGCSE and the IB are recognized by the Association of Indian Universities. In the context of globalization, increasing numbers of students want to go overseas. So the IGCSE and IB makes this transition easier. A careers and guidance counselor will ensure that each child is adequately guided through the process of finding the right college and university on completing school at Candor.

• How different is the teaching Methodology at Candor?

The strategy and methodology used at Candor will maintain the delicate balance which holds together classroom learning, experiential learning, problem/project-based learning, and a discriminate use of technology in the classroom. Children will learn from their peers as well as from the teachers who are the initiators and facilitators in the learning process. The school will provide opportunities for, and encourage individual potential and creativity and ensure a whole- brain curriculum.

• How effective is the faculty at Candor and what kind of attention can I expect for my child?

• Other than academics, what are the things my child can aspire to learn?

Other than academics, students will learn to apply knowledge meaningfully to real life situations, become open-minded enquirers, balanced and responsible persons, critical yet, principled and reflective thinkers, effective communicators, responsible risk-takers and caring individuals.

• How good are the infrastructure and other facilities at Candor?

Candor’s infrastructure is adequate for delivering a meaningful and effective education and meets international standards in all aspects whether it is academic, residential or co-curricular facilities. As the physical environment of a school greatly impacts or impedes learning, Candor has invested in internationally accepted educational facilities.

• As the school is located in the outskirts of Bangalore, what kind of transportation does the school provide?

As far as transportation is concerned, AC buses with seat belts, a GPS, male and female attendants on each bus, will ensure the safety of every child. The school bus routes will be provided to parents and the transport system will be closely monitored by the Dean of Administration.

• What kind of facilities does the school provide for residential students? What measures are in place for their security and safety?

As far as quality of life is concerned, residential students will be have a homely dorms, which will be places to relax after school, where students can have a little space to watch TV, play music, use their phone, make something to eat, a place where they can be themselves as they would be at home and where their dorm parents will be in place of their parents.

As far as security and safety is concerned, Candor will have security systems in place and they will be security attendance at every exit. Communication systems will ensure that any emergency is immediately attended to.

• How can I keep track of my child’s growth at the school?

The student’s progress will be regularly monitored through Formative and Summative assessments and parents regularly informed so that timely intervention is available. Parental involvement in the learning process as well as anticipating the future development will ensure that the child is prepared for life.

• How can Candor help families with both parents working full time jobs?

Weekly residential facilities will ensure that academic work from Monday to Friday is completed and that social and other activities are taken care of yet parents are able to spend quality time with their children from Friday evening to Monday morning.

• As parents returning to India after a stint overseas are there schooling options where academics and co-curriculars are integrated as in many schools overseas?

Yes, Candor integrates Music, Drama, Sports, the Arts, Robotic technology into its curriculum because we believe that emotional and social development provided by the co-curriculars are as important as intellectual development.

• How can overseas parents be assured that their children will not be discriminated against?
